Questions - Hi, I have been reading your studies, and find them to be a blessing. Which Bible do you recommend for study? What is your understanding of Michael and Jesus being the same person?

Answer - This is an important question, and one which we get asked quite often. There is no good answer to this question, short of using the Hebrew or the Greek, which is not easy for many people. It has been our experience that there is not one English translation which is completely dependable, and that they all contain translation errors based on the biases of the translator(s), However, some are clearly much better then others.

Without providing you with a clear answer, We will give you some suggestions on Bibles which every student should have available for study purposes. You must realize that the Hebrew or the Greek should always be used to settle contradictions between the various English renderings.

1.) The King James Version, or the New King James - Use this version for reference only, for many available "study" tools are based on this translation.

2.) The Jerusalem Bible - Get the one by Doubleday & Company, Inc. This Translations is valuable for it's foot notes, and uses the proper personal Creator's Name "Yahweh" in the Old Covenant. We find this complete Translation to be quite accurate "in the Hebrew."

3.) The Scriptures - A Fair Complete Translation of the Scriptures. Valuable for its use of all the correct terms, and the proper Names. Avoid the foot notes in this Translation when they are opinions or comments, because most are based on preconceived doctrines of end time prophecy, and most are erroneous. Available through Institute for Scriptural Research

4.) The Concordant Literal - A must have translation (Old Covenant only). Correctly uses the Greek pronouns and the definite article "the" in the Greek. It is also accurate in Greek word tenses. A very good reference for the New Covenant; contains a built-in Greek word Concordance. Available through Concordant Publishing

Answer - As to your second question - We do not understand (from the Scriptures) that Michael and Jesus are the same being. Michael is a Created being, a Messenger (angel) of Yahweh. Yahshua (Jesus) is the only begotten Son of Yahweh, the Redeemer and King of Israel. Both "Michael" and "Yahshua" are proper names (not titles), these names belong to separate beings.
