Question - If Sin and Satan have always existed as a necessary part of the spiritual life in this universe, must it always continue as such? What do you do with Revelation 20 where it describes the destruction of Satan or the adversary?
Answer - "the waster 'was created' to destroy" (Isa. 54:16). Yahweh works "all matters according to the counsel of His will" (Eph. 1:11). We do not necessarily believe that Scripture supports the notion that 'sin' has always existed, because we really do not know. What we do know is, that an adversary, the adversary, or an opponent, and the accuser, working counter to Yahweh's plan has existed for a long time, but strictly under His authority and with His permission. Scripture is very clear on this. There is no battle between Yahweh and Satan, or the Devil. The battle is between righteousness and wickedness, which we can overcome through Messiah. Yet all is under the authority and control of the Almighty Creator Yahweh. Yes, there is an explanation for Revelation 20, as there is for the whole book, but it requires a background.
Without going into much further detail, we can provide some points of the Revelation for you to ponder, and maybe rouse your continued interest.
The Book of Revelation is primarily a prophecy of the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple by the Romans and the Edomites in A.D. 70. It prophesies the same event as did Yahshua by His prophecy in Matt. 24. By this event Yahweh, through Yahshua's Second Coming, judged the wicked and unbelieving Yahudeans remaining in the city of Jerusalem, and utterly destroyed the last remaining symbols of the Old Covenant; the Temple and the City. Jerusalem's destruction was the last blast of the trumpet, signaling "that the mystery of Yahweh" was finished (Rev. 10:7). There would be from this time onward, no further canonical writing, since Israel was now completely dispersed among the Nations. The two branches (sticks) Yahudah and Yisrael are now reunited among the Nations (John 10:16).
Revelation was addressed to seven actual Assemblies that were in the cities of Asia Minor. These cities were ideally placed to serve as the distribution points for the message of Revelation. After the fall of Jerusalem, the province of Asia Minor would become the most influential center of New Covenant Christianity in the Roman Empire, with Ephesus as its radial point. From here the message of the fulfilled New Covenant went out to all of dispersed Israel who were living and formulating the Central and Western Nations of Europe. "The Holy of Holies (Yahshua the promised Messiah) had been anointed and is ruling (then, now, and forever) as their eternal King (Heb. 9:24). With this message of the Apostles (Matt. 10:5-7; 15:24) these Nations of Central and Western Europe, as well as the Nations of the British Isles all became the Great Christian Nations of the globe from which Christianity took root, and continues to grow.
It was necessary for the Assemblies of dispersed Israel (now called 'the Caucasian people') to recognize this fully with all it's implications. Faith in Yahshua Messiah requires absolute submission to His Kingship at every point, with no compromise. To confess Messiah as Master meant conflict with existing 'state-ism,' especially in these areas of Asia Minor where the official worship of Caesar was required. The failure of which could result in economic hardship, ruin, imprisonment, torture, or death. Does this sound familiar in our own age?
Yahshua is Master of all, but he is King only of Jacob/Israel (Luke 1:32-33). To acknowledge him truly as Master, we who are Israel must serve him as our King. This is the primary message of Revelation from St. John to the Israelites (true Christian Israelite believers) in Asia that they desperately needed to hear. John wrote to remind them of their true King, and of their position with him also as kings and priests, and of the necessity for them to persevere. Although not written to us or for this age, the application of the primary message to True Israel who remain (to this day) scattered among the Nations has not changed.
What is important to remember is this:
Millions of dollars have been spent, and are being spent by gullible people looking for an easy (ruptured) way out of this world; this forces them to shun their responsibilities as kings and priests, and from justly ruling the nations, while at the same time they are longing for someone to give them an easy paradise on this earth. Yet they want all of this to come to them without any responsibility or action, without proofing, or willingness to make any changes on their part. Millions of dollars have been made by false prophets like Hal Lindsey, from phony deceptive Movies like 'Left Behind" and by other false preachers with their incorrect interpretation and application of Revelation. Many false prophets and prophecies have come and most have gone. The Scriptural fact is this:
Revelation remains a prophecy about the imminent events that were about to unfold on the City of Jerusalem of the First Century, A.D 70. and on the wicked Yahudeans living in Jerusalem (Matt. 24: 34; 17:28). Revelation is NOT about nuclear warfare, NOT about space travel, NOT about the end of the world or any other such nonsense. Again and again Revelation specifically warns in the text, "the time is near" and it was, for those living in the First century A.D. 70.
St. John wrote his prophecy of the approaching destruction (in AD 70) of Jerusalem to show to the dispersed lost tribes of True Israel living in Asia Minor, and to the lost tribes throughout Central and Western Europe, and throughout the British Islands, that Yahshua the promised Messiah had brought in and fully completed the New Covenant and the New Creation, 'the New World' (new religious system). The end of the world (destruction of the religious 'Old Yahudean Sacrificial System') had come, and was gone. Revelation cannot begin to be understood until these fundamental facts are clearly understood.
